Brendan Herlihy, firm principal, credits his high personal and professional values to growing up in his family’s financial services business that has been successfully passed to the third generation. Watching his father and grandfather run the business instilled in him a strong respect for entrepreneurs and an intense desire to help clients achieve and perpetuate their success and security.

Brendan graduated from Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Massachusetts, and received his Bachelor of Science in Management from Babson College. Following graduation, he worked for three years as an investment analyst in the San Francisco-based investment consulting firm of Callan Associates, Inc.

Returning to New England in 1995, Brendan established his own financial planning company. Dedicated to providing his clients with the highest level of competency, professionalism, and ethics in financial planning, Brendan completed the rigorous and extensive education and exam requirements of the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board of Standards, Inc. In addition to his desire to gain knowledge and mastery in a wide range of financial planning topics, Brendan chose the CFP education because it focuses on the same integrated and comprehensive approach to financial planning that is strongly reflected in his own business.

In 2001 Brendan earned the Corporation for Long Term Care Certification’s designation, Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC), enhancing his ability to provide guidance to families on a wide range of long term care issues and products including home care, assisted living, nursing homes, social services, taxes, law, insurance, and finances.

In 2003, Brendan restructured The Herlihy Company, Inc. as a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts enabling him to better serve the interests of his clients. Eschewing the sale of financial products and services offered by a predetermined platform or single financial institution, he avoids conflicts of interest, enabling him to recommend investment strategies, managers, and other professionals and solutions that best meet each client's specific needs and objectives.
